    How to crop PDF pages

Our PDF cropper lets you visually trim margins, headers, footers, or any part of a page you don't want. Drag a rectangle on the page preview, fine-tune with the eight resize handles, and apply the crop to one page or the whole document. The crop is lossless — the visible page is resized via PDF crop-box metadata, not by re-rendering. Everything runs in your browser.

    Step-by-step guide

    1. Upload the PDF. Drop in the file. The first page renders as an interactive preview; use the page navigator to jump between pages.
    2. Draw a selection. On desktop, click and drag to create a crop box. On mobile, a full-page selection appears that you can tighten with the handles.
    3. Fine-tune with handles. Drag any of the eight handles (4 corners + 4 edge midpoints) to resize precisely. Drag the centre of the box to reposition without changing size.
    4. Choose apply scope. Apply the crop to only the current page, or to every page in the document.
    5. Crop and download. Click the action button — the cropped PDF downloads automatically.

    When to crop a PDF

    • Removing scanner black borders or skewed edges.
    • Trimming printer margins to maximise content area on re-prints.
    • Isolating a single chart, table, or figure from a larger page.
    • Removing headers, footers, and page numbers from a document you're quoting.
    • Converting a landscape slide deck into a tighter portrait layout.
    • Preparing a PDF for a mobile reader where margins waste screen space.

    Tips

    • Use "All pages" when your layout is uniform.A single crop applied consistently is faster and produces a more professional result.
    • Use per-page cropping when layouts vary. Mixed portrait/landscape documents often need separate crops.
    • Cropping hides — it doesn't delete. The PDF crop box hides content outside the visible region; savvy users can sometimes restore it. If you need to truly destroy cropped content, print the cropped PDF to a new PDF.
    • Want a tighter file? Run the cropped output through Compress PDF to drop any embedded objects from the hidden areas.

    Frequently asked questions

    Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. Cropping adjusts the PDF's crop-box metadata only — original content is preserved.

Can I crop different shapes of regions on the same PDF?

The same crop applies to every page in one pass. For mixed crops, process pages individually by applying to "current page" only, navigating to the next, and repeating.

What if the crop looks wrong in the final PDF?

Reload the original and try again — the tool never modifies your source file. You can also re-crop the output file.

Does the tool support cropping password-protected PDFs?

Unlock the PDF first with Unlock PDF, then crop.

Is this secure for sensitive documents?

Yes. The cropper runs entirely in-browser. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or retained.
