Our PDF watermarker adds text or image watermarks to every page of a PDF — with full control over opacity, rotation, size, colour, and position. All work happens in your browser: your PDF, watermark text, or uploaded logo never leave your device. The watermark becomes part of the page content, visible in any PDF reader and preserved through printing.
Step-by-step guide
- Upload the PDF. Drag your file into the dropzone.
- Choose text or image. Use the tab at the top to switch between a typed watermark and an uploaded image (PNG or JPG).
- For text: enter up to 50 characters — e.g. CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, your name, or a copyright notice. Adjust font size (12–120 px), rotation angle (0–360°, try 45° for a diagonal stamp), colour, and opacity.
- For images: upload your logo, signature, or stamp. Transparent PNGs work best. Scale from 10%–100% and adjust opacity so the underlying content stays readable.
- Position it. Pick from the 5 preset locations (centre or any corner). The preview updates as you change settings.
- Apply and download. Click the action button and the watermarked PDF downloads automatically. The watermark is applied to every page.
Common watermark use cases
- Drafts & reviews: mark in-progress documents with DRAFT or DO NOT DISTRIBUTE.
- Confidentiality: stamp CONFIDENTIAL, INTERNAL USE, or PRIVILEGED.
- Copyright protection: add © Your Name 2026 across photographs or creative PDFs.
- Branding: apply a subtle logo on every page of client deliverables.
- Sample versions: watermark SAMPLE on files you share publicly before purchase.
- Version control: stamp a version number or revision date.
Tips
- Use 20–40% opacity for most text watermarks — visible enough to be a clear mark, faint enough to keep the document readable.
- Diagonal watermarks are harder to crop out. A rotated CONFIDENTIAL at 45° can't easily be removed by cropping page edges.
- Prepare your logo first. A transparent PNG at the final size you want gives cleaner results than scaling a large JPG down.
- Watermark is not encryption. Anyone can open the file and read the content. For access restriction, use PDF Password.
Frequently asked questions
Can the watermark be removed?
Baked-in watermarks can be removed by someone with determined effort (re-rendering pages, OCR, photo editing). A watermark is a visible notice, not a cryptographic protection.
Will the watermark appear when I print?
Yes. It is part of the page content and prints like any other element.
Can I apply different watermarks to different pages?
Not in a single pass — this tool applies one watermark to every page. For page-specific watermarks, split the PDF, watermark each section separately, then merge back.
What image formats are supported?
PNG (recommended, supports transparency) and JPG.
Does the tool upload my files?
No. The PDF, any image you upload, and the watermarked result all stay in your browser.
